The possibility of nuclear war in the 1980s overshadowed everyday life. Since then, we have enjoyed relatively stable decades, where this threat has receded and we have lived our lives without worrying unduly. But in 2022, the Russians invaded Ukraine, shattering the worldwide stability that we had enjoyed since the end of the Cold War.
Whereas we hope that nuclear war would never happen, it is impossible to deny that humanity could find itself on the brink of a nuclear disaster, should things take a turn for the worst. Most of us are unable to influence what goes on, on the international stage, but we are able to manipulate our own destinies, and have the ability to take precautions to safeguard our own future, should the worst happen.
